May Flow and Focus

May Flow and Focus

The new moon in Taurus will help ground us. Taurus brings a visceral, physical and embodied energy into our lives, and this new moon encourages us to be like the birds and the bees; to lose ourselves in the pleasure of existing here and now in our physical bodies. Take a stroll outside, and you'll see that the rest of nature is having a party ! The earth is singing, the sky is blue and we're in the middle of it all. May is the time to take a few steps and refocus, to find our flow.

You may have seen recently the first brood of bumblebee offspring all 'workers'. Some will guard or clean the nest, while others will forage for nectar and pollen from flowers. Some of the nectar will be consumed by these bees, but most will be bought to the nest to feed other workers and the next batch of grubs. From now on, the queen will remain inside the nest, her main job now being to lay more eggs.

Cooking from the kitchen garden in May, includes crops of asparagus, broad beans, peas, radishes, wild rocket, beetroot, spring onions, lettuce and chives.

We enjoyed a lovely weekend in Knaresborough with North Yorks Art School making Tote Bags, Tool Rolls and Aprons. Knaresborough is a market and spa town and civil parish on the River Nidd.

The Knaresborough Hoard, the largest hoard of Romano-British copper-alloy vessels discovered to date in Britain, dates to the 4th century and indicates wealthy Roman presence in the area.[2] It was probably discovered near Farnham near where two important Roman roads ran: Cade's Road on the eastern side and Dere Street to the west, a major route to York and Hadrian's Wall. There were a number of wealthy Roman villas in the area and the hoard may have come from one of these.

Knaresborough is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Chenaresburg, meaning "Cenheard's fortress".
