The Materials

The leather used in all of Cathy’s products comes from J & E Sedgewick and Co, a small tannery just outside Walsall, in operation since 1900.

The tannery produces small batches of very high quality leather, sourced entirely from British cows. The cows are raised to high standards of welfare and are traceable.

Leather is a natural material that gains character as it ages, and, with a little care and the occasional ‘feed’ it can last a lifetime.

Cathy uses a special blend of waxes to finish her pieces, developed through years of experience and research. This wax blend protects and nourishes the leather, as some saddle soaps and polishes can pull the natural oils out of leather, replacing them with chemicals and shortening the lifespan.

For bags, Cathy selects high quality buckles which are used in the production of uniforms for firefighters. This ensures their high quality and durability for everyday use.
