Ideal as a birthday, Christmas or treat day present to yourself, Cathy takes beginners through every step of the leatherwork process and will teach you the skills you need to take home a beautifully finished product. No experience is necessary, and under Cathy’s expert tuition you’ll be delighted with what you can learn to make.

Private tuition

In addition to public workshops, Cathy is also able to offer private and bespoke tuition at her Hebden Bridge workshop. Private tuition can be booked at a variety of times and to meet your specific needs. Get in touch [mail to link] with Cathy for a no-obligation discussion of your project.
Examples of projects undertaken with private tuition include:
- Creating bespoke cycle panniers. This was an eight week project, undertaken one day a week where the student was taken from choosing the desired leather, to cutting patterns, hand stitching, finishing and fitting the panniers to the bike.
- Historic recreation of cartridge cases. Here a student was taught how to take patterns from an existing, pre-WW2 cartridge case, how to select an appropriate leather and fittings for the task, hand cutting the leather, lining and finishing. This was a four week project undertaken one evening a week.
- Crafting mountings for enamel plates. This two week project involved selecting materials, edging, mark making, dyeing, riveting and waxing.
Private tuition could also help you make the bag of your dreams, craft a belt for a loved one, or simply produce something which is unique to you at a high level of finish.
