Stir up
As Shakin Stevens once said ‘snow is falling all around us’ and although it may look very beautiful, it makes you want to light a fire and stay inside in the warmth. This time of year I think we have more time for reflection as the nights draw in. The photograph shows a collection of old tins, full of granny’s buttons and buckles that people give Cathy from time to time. Hopefully Cathy will be able to give them a new life and they will live on becoming someone else’s memory.
We have just run a tool roll workshop at a beautiful arts studio in Masham called Artison, we had 8 participants who made some wonderful creations to carry their chisels, crochet hooks, paintbrushes etc in. It is always amazing to see all the different colour combinations and ideas that participants bring to these workshops. Here is a link to all the others courses that ArtisOn offer.
Don’t forget it’s stir up Sunday on the 24th of November, the last Sunday before advent where families traditionally got together to make Christmas pudding; a tradition dating back to Victorian times.
This time of year we always crave winter warming food and here is a link to delicious and nutritious vegetarian chilli for you to try.
We have just seen the four and final supermoon of the year, the beaver moon, which was at peak illumination on the 15th of November. Many people believe that supermoons have the power to manifest their desires and bring positive changes into their lives.
However sometimes no change can also be positive. Don’t be too efficient during your final tidy up of the year, provide overwintering nooks and crannies for our helpful garden creatures such as hedgehogs, toads and ladybirds. Leave tufty grasses, small log heaps and piles of leaves to keep them safe until next spring. They’ll reward you by being on hand to control early pests.
